Leaving Switzerland

August 30, 2020

I’m going to miss the view from this window. These three weeks staying with my sister and her wife in Switzerland have been the best of days. It’s difficult to explain how much living a minimalist, nomadic life has changed us, but I notice it more when I return to the familiarity of family, and I’m discovering that the more time and energy invested in #radicalselflove and #radicalselfacceptance, the better I am at being a partner, mother, sister, friend… and also how much more confident I am at being myself. When the writing comes from this place I forget to panic about being accepted by the wider world because I already have what matters.
Anyway. Tomorrow we begin a long slog back to the UK. Our MOT expires next week and our wonderfully chaotic government have capped MOT extensions only up to 31st July. Added to this the quarantine status of Switzerland changed while we were here. Amazing. So the van will need to go into storage while we do two weeks quarantine in a UK house. But enough of the gripes! These are, of course #firstworldproblems as we’ll be back on the road in a few weeks, and some months re-exploring our home-country will be quite the adventure. #nomadiclife #homeiswhereyouparkit #homeiswheretheheartis #travellers #buylesslivemore
