Bring back natural bathing

May 2, 2019

Post-run cool-down-wash. These days I’m braver with getting in the water wherever we are. Why does it feel so odd immersing in water if there’s people around? Especially if they’re in winter padded coats & hiking boots ?. When did it become weird to wash in a stream so that bathrooms are the only option? Increasingly I want to sit in the water naked. Not to show off flesh – I’m a long time past that – but to feel the water on every inch of skin. In my clubland days my outfits showed off so much skin ? but as I’ve got older it feels more empowering to cover up. I don’t want my cleavage on show and I’m not interested in clothes that flaunt this. I realise that empowerment is different for all women though so if showing flesh makes you feel good you should definitely do it ✊?. Being naked in water feels different though because I’m increasingly aware of how ridiculous it is to bathe in a stream with a costume on. But I also don’t want to offend people with my nakedness. Our culture is so skewed. Anyway – what I definitely plan to do is keep acting as if it is perfectly normal for a woman in flip flops, swimming costume & poncho, to walk across a carpark and then a country lane, walk down a riverbank, take of her poncho and lie in the stream. Bring back natural bathing!
