Self acceptance

December 5, 2018

Watching the world go by… I haven’t posted many photos of myself on here in the past as maybe I felt that I needed to look thinner, or prettier, or taller, or have better cheekbones, or have more silky hair. But oddly, since turning 40 a couple of years ago I’ve found the confidence to just like what I look like – because that’s what I look like. This body has got me this far in life and she’s…

What love is

December 5, 2018

Love this photo. Love this man. One year in the van has had us doing a lot of reflecting on what it takes to keep a relationship working – and sometimes it’s as mercenary as one person not being prepared to let go when the other can’t see a way forward. Over our 14+ years together that’s oscillated between us. We’ve achieved so much, from bringing up our family, to curating events and supporting each other through freelance life;…

#ibelieveher

December 4, 2018

Thinking today about how everything we do creates ripples – whether we intend to or not. I read this morning about the rugby rape trial in Ireland and the ripples that has caused, polarising the community across Ireland and beyond. The woman who stood her ground to take them to trial is brave beyond imagining and I genuinely wept to read of her treatment in court and on social media. One of the things that horrified me was the…

Goodbye Slovenia – hello Croatia

December 3, 2018

Morning swim in the fog. Temperature is dropping. Still exhilarating. Goodbye Slovenia you are utterly beautiful – we will be back. Back together

December 2, 2018

I’ve loved these past few solo days exploring the Slovenian coastline with this pair. They are such good company – a complete handful at times but we wouldn’t have them any other way. More and more I’m folding into this nomadic way of life and love being free to follow intuition and magic; learning to listen to the land with ears, heart and mind; flowing across landscapes like a river. This life definitely isn’t for everyone, but it’s the…

Mulled white wine

December 1, 2018

Cold dark winter nights = warmed drinks. Experimenting with mulled white wine tonight. Basically because I bought a bottle of what I thought was Slovenian prosecco but it’s really sweet. I haven’t added spirits as I don’t want to be sloshed (and I don’t have any!) but so far I’ve added: cardamom pods, allspice berries, a large cinnamon stick, half a lemon, dried rose petals and liquid sugar (you can use honey if not vegan). There is no method…

Closing ceremony

December 1, 2018

It’s strange how the world sometimes clicks into focus almost by accident. More and more I’m coming round to the idea that it’s about believing in the process, letting go of everything and having faith that I will find a way forward while taking that leap. It’s not a smooth path. It’s not even a path. A path assumes that someone has been there before to carve a way. This way means that unexpected hurdles, pitfalls and mental caverns…
